With each passing day, we are drawing closer to the month of Ramadan of 2015. It would be great chance for us to earn great rewards and get our sins forgiven. It is a month that has the great potential of changing ourselves from the inside and for the better. However, some of us just pass it by starving each day. Such fasting is useless and bears no fruit. Therefore, we should also be careful about our intentions and do as much good deeds along with our fasting as we can. In this article, we shall discuss how we should spend the thirty days of Ramadan 2015.
Quran recitation or reading itself rewards us with many benefits and doing it in the month of Ramadan will be even more of a blessed activity. As mentioned in the following hadith:
“Whoever draws near to Allah during it (Ramadan) with a single characteristic from the characteristics of (voluntary) goodness, he is like whoever performs an obligatory act in other times. And whoever performs an obligatory act during it, he is like whoever performed seventy obligatory acts in other times.” (Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah)
Hence, we ought to read and recite the Quran if we wish to enhance greatly our deeds record to the positive side. Even if we don’t plan to finish the entire Quran in this month (although that is more recommended), we should tend to read important surahs like Surah Baqarah, Surah Yaseen, Surah Kahf etc. as they impart great knowledge to us as well.
Pure intention and devotion:
As mentioned before, the month of Ramadan provides benefits only when fasting is done with pure intentions and great devotion. Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) has said:
“.. whoever fasts during Ramadan out of sincere faith and hoping to attain Allah's rewards, then all his past sins will be forgiven." (Sahih Bukhari)
Therefore, we must be careful of our intentions if we wish to achieve maximum benefits of this month including getting our past sins forgiven. May Allah grant us the ability to practice religious activities in this month with true intentions, seeking only His pleasure.
